Here’s where America is going:

Quick fix today, Crisis tomorrow

Honestly, nobody should need more warning than this…but I’ll continue to post the messages as I see them. America is dying, folks. What we’ve all taken for granted is now in the terminal stages of this disease called Statism, and it will absolutely take a miracle to cure it. That miracle is us…will we do what it takes to delay the corruption/userpation of our country long enough for the American people to wake up and realize what is being lost here? Will we throw up enough roadblocks, delay the erasure of our Constitution long enough for the world to realize that it is the only protection mankind has against tyranny and ultimate destruction? These things are up to us. If we don’t do them nobody will, and the downfall of this nation and humankind will be on our shoulders. Barack Obama and his minions are the enemy, to be sure, but they’re the enemy we know. Personal apathy, ambivalence, inaction…that’s the most heinous enemy because we don’t recognize it even as we see it in the mirror each morning.

“The only thing necessary for evil to succeed is for good men [and women] to do nothing.”

Volunteers Needed

April 21, 2009

We’re going to be needing some volunteers in the immediate future. Among the talents we’re seeking, a well-versed website developer is desperately needed to take a good template and make it into a viable living, breathing website (JOOMLA preferred). We’re also going to need people who can systematically represent our views on assorted forums to drive traffic to this blog and to our (eventual) website. A good “recruitment officer” would be invaluable to coordinate incoming interersted parties. I’d like to have someone in the legal profession who can (pro bono) assess our legal standing and keep us from being targeted any more than necessary by the creeps who misuse the government to keep the citizenry down (can you say DHS?). I’d also like to find someone who can legally conduct background checks whenever this might become necessary, because let’s face it–there will be times when this is a requirement. Lastly, I’m going to need a “leadership council” whose responsibilities would include helping me to determine our mission and our agenda.

If you’re interested in any of these opportunities to serve, please send a quick email. You’ll find the address to use (for now) on the “ABOUT” page.

Perfect response

April 20, 2009

I found this in the “comments” section of a story about David Axelrod foolishly saying that the Tea Party protests were “unhealthy”. I couldn’t have answered this better myself:

So let me get this straight.
La Raza organizing protests to support illegal aliens = Good for the country

ACORN staging protests and subverting the voter registration process = Good for the country

Various liberal groups protesting military actions in the war on terror = Good for the country

Code Pink disrupting congress and vandalising Marine Corp recruiting stations = Good for the country

People taking to the streets to defend the Constitution and [to denounce] runaway government spending and taxation = Unhealthy

The commentor went on to say, accurately, that the fact is we protesters are not happy with the Republicans either–and again, he’s absolutely correct:

By the way many of the same people at these protests were also protesting spending by the Republicans, but the media wasn’t listening. They were too preoccupied with the Cindy Sheehans of the world to give two flips about what conservatives were saying. Plenty of Republicans were getting booed at these events also. Don’t make the mistake of confusing conservatives with Republicans.

More Resistance-oriented posts coming soon, but I really wanted to share this great stuff.

You’re gonna be on the DHS Watch List anyway…

April 18, 2009

Hey, if you oppose the Obama administration and the boobs in congress, and you’re willing to actually exercise your right to speak out against them, you’re going to wind up on a DHS watchlist somewhere…why not actually earn it.  Join the Red Hat Resistance today!

For now, just keep an eye on this blog.   More information about how to get involved will be posted here in the coming days.

I’m seriously considering making our initial slogan “We’re PROUD to be Right Wing Extremists!”.

The Right-wing Extremist's Oath

The Right-wing Extremist’s Oath

Much to know, much to do.

April 18, 2009

Because the Tea Parties are still so fresh in people’s minds, and we’re all looking around for more on the “what’s next” front, I suspect a lot of people are going to find this site in a very short time.  That means that I’m going to have to get a lot of information together in a relatively short period of time.  I’m trying to think of the best way to help people to know, right away, if this is or is not the place they want to spend their time.  To that end I think it’s probably important to try to define precisely what the Red Hat Resistance is, and what it is not.

I’m going to start with the “is not”s, in order to eliminate misconceptions and filter through a lot of chaff that might be mistakenly directed here.  These lists, by the way, are in no way all-encompassing, nor are they utterly set in stone (well, some of them are but you’ll get the picture on those right away).  Things change.  As we gather new members and new followers of our work, we’ll make decisions together that will help guide this organization.

There are a few absolutes, though.  That’s what I’m going to detail here, now.   The essence of this post is this–if you can’t abide these things, you’re in the wrong place.  Check the lists that you find below and make sure you can live within these confines, because there will be no variation on what you see here.  Let me repeat–what you see below is granite.  It will not be altered, under any circumstances.  Again, this list is not necessarily all-inclusive…but it’s a good start.

Just as the Tea Party protests were not partisan, neither is this organization.  We are not Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians…we are Americans.  We are coming together to restore sanity to our government and reclaim the nation left to us by our Founding Fathers.  There’s no doubt that the principles underpinning this endeavor are Conservative in nature, and those principles are purportedly the realm of the Republicans–but let’s be real…there’s not a nickel’s worth of difference between a Republican and a Democrat in Washington right now.  I don’t care what letter they carry beside their name, the majority of those “leading” this country are corrupt through and through, bankrupt of any real concern for the future of this nation, inept, spineless and out of touch.  They’re all spending more than they take in, they’re all laying down for the Socialization of our great nation, and most of them are at least standing on the deck of the ship as it sails into oblivion, if not exactly setting the sails.  Nobody in Washington (and precious few in State and Local Government) seem capable or interested in jumping off of that sinking vessel.  We are not interested in preserving the status quo, or in helping the same old sorry politicians to get elected over and over again, or to buy into more promises of change that never, ever are realized.  This collective is open to anyone who agrees with our guiding principles, which are outlined below.  Basically, that’s the only real qualification that’s necessary; your political party is of no concern.

SO…what are the “guiding principles”?  Simple.  We believe that nothing can be allowed to replace the only proven antidote to tyranny, which is LIBERTY.  We believe that only through LIBERTY can anyone ever achieve prosperity, and that prosperity born of LIBERTY pulls us all higher.

We believe that LIBERTY cannot be had, or preserved, unless it is coupled with an equal amount of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.  There is nobody who has ever benefited for more than a day by being given something for nothing, but the whole world is benefited when we make our own way.  PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY means taking the credit or blame for our own actions; making the choice to create our own world and make from our lives exactly what we want of it–no more and no less; demanding nothing of others except that which they freely give; living within our means; respecting other people’s rights and property.  There are many more examples of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, but the important thing to remember is that in the absence of it, there can be no LIBERTY–and without LIBERTY, there can be no long-term prosperity.

We believe that the Founders had it right.  There has never been, in human history, a more complete and correct vision for the governance of mankind than the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION, and no better explanation for why LIBERTY is so vital to the survival of mankind than the Declaration of Independence.  We are not interested in revisionist history–in fact, we’ll have no part of it.  We are not concerned with the failings of the founders; they were, after all, human just like the rest of us.  They had their weaknesses and their prejudices.  They had their superstitions and their sins.  But they also had the wisdom to recognize the true blessings of life and how to achieve them, the courage to fight for the establishment of a government that recognized them, and the foresight to protect those things in the form of the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.  We believe, more than any other thing, in the sanctity of the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION and we demand that the Government live within the confines and by those absolutes it established.

We believe that all men and women are created equal, but from there we are what we make of ourselves.  We do not believe in the “victim” mentality.  We do not believe in blaming our circumstances for our failings, or laying on other people’s doorsteps the poor decisions we ourselves make.  A part of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY is recognizing and respecting the idea that EQUALITY DOES NOT MEAN UNIFORMITY.  There is nothing that says we must all be given the exact same opportunities or that we must be “given” anything at all except the blessings of LIBERTY.  Our belief is that we are born into freedom and may do with our lives what we will.  Any attemt to engineer absolute equality is counterproductive, flying in the face of LIBERTY and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, and fails to understand the basic reality that EQUALITY DOES NOT MEAN UNIFORMITY.

Our movement does not recognize any distinction between human beings except those distinctions which they choose for themselves.  RACE IS NOT AN ISSUE and racial motivations will not be tolerated.  There are perfectly fine people of all races who have achieved wonderful things, and who have embraced LIBERTY and all it offers.  There are likewise perfectly worthless people of all races who have done nothing with their lives and who continually suck off of the government teet to the detriment of all society.  A person’s RACE IS NOT AN ISSUE, but rather the choices he makes and, as has been said in history, “the content of his character”.  These are the only things with which we will concern ourselves regarding people.

We believe that it is a sad fact of human existance that violence is sometimes necessary to protect oneself or one’s property, but that VIOLENCE IS ALWAYS THE MEANS OF LAST RESORT.  We do not condone the senseless use of violence or other acts of worthless aggression (such as vandalism) and we will not tolerate it’s advocacy except in extreme circumstances where the protection of human life, human rights or personal property are at stake.  We are not per se a militant organization.  We believe there are better, more effective ways of achieving our goals.  We will never deviate from the outlook that under most circumstances violence is counterproductive; VIOLENCE IS ALWAYS THE MEANS OF LAST RESORT.

That said, WE WILL NOT BE TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT.  There are those who do not believe in restraint.  These people will use intimidation tactics that border on and sometimes cross into the world of violence.  When such oppression occurs we will stand up, for ourselves and our comrades.  We will not be intimidated, we will not be silenced, we will not be pushed to the side, WE WILL NOT BE TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT.

Similarly, our organization and it’s members will always be open to civil discourse, but WE WILL NOT BE BULLIED IN ANY WAY, including on these or other communication forums.  In situations where we control what is posted, postings will be controlled (in other words, comments may be edited or deleted as we see fit).  In arenas where we cannot control the actions of others, we will give as good as we get when the need arises.  WE WILL NOT BE BULLIED IN ANY WAY.  That said, our membership must understand that there are those whose sole mission in life is to create discontent and breed discord.  We will selectively ignore those who appear to have no other agenda than “flaming” and other worthless diatribe.  We will under no circumstances be forced down to their level (let alone go there willingly).

There are many things that need to be added to this list, but these will get us started.  I’m trying to keep these posts short enough to be readable, so other details will be forthcoming but I’m going to get this posted for now.  I’m always open to ideas and input of all kinds, within the bounds outlined above.

Here’s what you’ve been looking for.

April 18, 2009

IN THE DAYS following the Tax Day Tea Party, a disturbing depression festered within me.  I felt, at times, quite literally sick to my stomach as a result of what I saw on that glorious day–and make no mistake about it, that moment will prove to be a turning point in WORLD history.  What made me so ill was not the result of the protests, because I believe they succeeded better than anyone dared imagine they would.  It wasn’t that the mainstream news media ignored at best, or poo-pooed at worst the event.  It certainly wasn’t that so many people who believe as I do came together, linked by our common threads.  No, what bothered me was that for all that the Tea Parties were, there was one glaring thing they were not.

I attended the Pittsburgh, PA Tea Party event at noon on tax day.  I heard a local talk show host who has drawn national attention (Jim Quinn) and other fine speakers including a feisty college professor who, quite frankly, deserves a place on the national stage herself.  These folks–especially the professor–stirred the crowd into a suitable frenzy, and had us all feeling quite good about what the future might hold if only…

…if only…

…if only…

WHAT?

And that was the rub.  The thing I did not hear was a plan of action.  I did not hear exactly what we, or anyone else who was attending these events, was actually going to do about any of this.  That’s when it dawned on me that what was most likely to come from all of this was a giant mailing list that opportunistic political hacks would start tapping for cash.  We might see some attempt to continue swelling the ranks, but a crowd gathered for the sake of gathering a crowd is, to me, a colossal waste of time.  It’s true we need numbers, it’s true we need visibility, it’s true we need these rallying points, but what we need more than any other thing is action.  The absence of any coherent plan of action quite possibly dooms this momentous movement from the start.  This is what had me so sick to the stomach.  The Tea Party proved to me that the problems I’ve been railing about really do exist; that others besides me know about it and are equally disturbed; and that those folks will mobilize at a moment’s notice to express their frustration and disgust.  But I was left with an overbearing feeling of what next? and this is simply something that should never have been allowed to happen.

Now in fairness I’ve got to say that these things came together very quickly, and the audience was disparate enough to ensure that any real attempt to organize us into an active, mobile force would probably have been impossible (and likely wasted).  I don’t fault the organizers for having thrown such a great party but forgetting to provide a designated driver program.   There’s only so much that can be expected of a true grass-roots movement that materializes out of nowhere such as this one did.  I hadn’t heard of Tea Parties until the Easter holiday, three days prior.  Besides, being the good Conservative that I am, I cannot and should not expect others to do for me what I can do for myself.

And neither can you.

This realization proved to be the best Pepto-Bismol I could ever have asked for as regards the stomach upset I had been feeling since leaving our event.  It dawns on me now that what has to happen is that intelligent, thoughtful, aggravated people like me have got to do the real legwork.  It isn’t up to them to tell us what’s next, it’s up to us to become what’s next.

I’ve spent the better part of this day examining exactly what that means for me, and trying to figure out a reasonable approach to coalescing these thoughts into a meaningful plan of action.  This blog is the very first salvo in that guns-a-blazin’ effort.

I will spend the next few days outlining my agenda and detailing exactly what I’m proposing, but here it is in a nutshell–I want to organize an army…an army…of mad-as-Hell-and-not-gonna-take-it-anymore folks just like me.  I want to set up an ACTION AGENDA, top to bottom and with every effort explored and detailed, and then set them (us) loose on the American landscape.  I want us to be uniformed (that’s where the Red Hat comes in), because I want us to be visibleI want us to be informed, because you can’t fight any of these battles if you have no weapons.  I want us to be prepared at all times because there are millions just like us out there, who are looking for a way to get behind a new American Revolution but who have no earthly idea how to do it.  Mostly, though, I want us to be in the face of everything and everyone who is enabling these folks to destroy this great nation.

Understand something now–and I’ll repeat this often, because I’ll have to; when I say “in the face”, I don’t necessarily mean that in a literal way (although I’m sure there will be times when that is wholely appropriate).  I do not and will not advocate violence, toward people or property.  I do not and will not advocate meaningless “civil disobedience” ala the “Code Pink” movement (which amounts to nothing more than childish attention-whoring to gain some twelve year old his/her 15 seconds of fame).  I do not and will not advocate outright criminal behavior.  That is not what this movement will be all about.  If you’re looking for a group that you hope will start some kind of shooting war with the Infidels, you’re in the wrong place.  This is for people who actually want to get something done, not just get someone killed.  This isn’t a militia movement, it isn’t an insurgency, and while it will no doubt land us all on some DHS watchlist, we will nevertheless be everything the true extremists are not…among other things, effective.

No, violence will not be our means.  A bullet can kill someone only once, but a properly organized campaign of words and protests can have that same effect over and over and over again.  Dying for your country is a noble, noble thing–but living for your country so that you might truly, personally effect change–now that’s something worth not dying for.

The Red Hat Resistance is born.  If any of this sounds like you, please bookmark us…link us…set one of those dooflinkies that tell you when a new post has been made…do something to both keep abreast of what we’re up to, and to make others aware as well.

But mostly, JOIN US.  I’ll provide details for exactly how you can do that in the coming days.  Don’t wait that long to set your mind to it, though.  The Tax Day Tea Parties did a wonderful job of showing all of us that we’re not alone…but we’re certainly not together, either.  The Red Hat Resistance is how we’re going to get there.
